The Indian Village is planning to make a major upgrade to the existing Boehnen Memorial Museum and Visitors' Center. This upgrade will significantly enlarge the exhibit areas to include more detailed presentations of the lifestyles of 1,000 years ago. There will also be a large addition to the east end of the facility. The addition of an art center and gift shop area will highlight present native cultural activities by showcasing and marketing Native American artwork from throughout South Dakota. The gift shop will be anchored by a large marble patio extending from the interior of the art center to center's exterior entrance. This marble patio will be etched with the constellations of the native cultures from 1000 year ago. Lastly, improvements are planned to the exterior finishes of the center and its main entrance.

The Indian Village board is forming a building campaign committee that will develop a plan for making the building and site improvements at the Village. Information about how to contribute to this effort will be posted on this website and communicated through other outlets as it becomes available.
