Make sure to join us on July 1st and 2nd for our biggest event of the year. Archaeology Awareness Days will showcase archaeology, primitive technology and Native American culture. Join the archaeologists as they showcase some of the fascinating finds from our site and other Northern Plains sites. Primitive technologists will show you how projectile points are made using the technique called Flint Knapping and how the people who lived in our Village 1,000 years ago made pottery - you can even make your own primitive pottery! Native American cultural presenters include story tellers, ancient games demonstrations and artists. Regular admission prices of $4 to $6 apply, plenty of automobile and RV parking available. We are dog friendly (as long as your dog is friendly!). Archaeologists will be continuing the excavation of our site during this event and kids can dig for free arrowheads!
Your support is important to the 1,700 schoolchildren who visit our site each year!
3200 Indian Village Road
Mitchell, South Dakota 57301
Just 5 minutes northwest of the Corn Palace!
The best way to get to our location during Mitchell's road construction is to use I90 exit 330 north (this exit is the Highway 37 bypass). Continue north to the second traffic light, turn left onto Main Street (Hwy. 37) and then left again on 23rd Avenue. Make a right on Indian Village Road and continue on that road until you see our parking lot.
We're looking forward to your visit!
