The University of Exeter, England joins us again for our annual Summer Archaeology Field School. Join us as our own Dr. Adrien Hannus, U. of Exeter’s Dr. Alan Outram, and students from around the world continue the excavation of this ancient Indigenous North American village.

Mitchell Public Library’s “The Big Dig!”

This is a fun learning experience for children 4 - 12 years old! We will spend time with our archaeology team, learn about the people who lived here 1,100 years ago; do our own excavations for arrowheads; and more! Event begins at 10:00AM, all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Our premier event of the year!! Meet the archaeologists and students who have been excavating this Village since 2003. Learn how to make pottery the same way it was made 1,000 years ago, learn how to throw an atlatl, watch as expeert flint knappers create arrowheads from stone and much, much more!!

Through meticulous research, Hidden Disgrace pierces through the veil of descriptions of Indians as either savages or “Noble Savages” and describes them as real people with both strengths and weaknesses. Likewise, it takes a hard look at the notion the conquest of North and South America by Europeans was “inevitable” and was, in reality, the result of deliberate choices.
